PYI Campus Connection Day
Black College Institute (BCI) Campus Connection Day is a one day visit to 17³Ô¹ÏÍø that will allow you to learn more about the University through an information session, campus tour, and panel within the context of the African-American cultural experience. You and your family will have the opportunity to interact with admissions counselors, current students, and other members of the university community.
BCI Campus Connection Day will fill up fast, so register early!
Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in learning more about African American experience at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø with their families are the main audience for BCI Campus Connection Day. However, any rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with an interest in the program is welcome to attend.
There is no cost for BCI Campus Connection Day. We will also provide lunch.
Check in at the Squires Student Center, Old Dominion Ballroom at the start of the day to get a parking pass and directions to appropriate lots on campus.
All dates will follow the same schedule and provide the same information. You should select one of the dates to attend.

Greetings from campus partners and resources.
Admissions Directors will welcome you to campus and present an overview of the university and the admissions process.
Current Students will share their experiences with you and allow for you to ask questions.
2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. & 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Concurrent: Cultural and Community Centers Scavenger Hunt/ Campus tour and Tour of Residence Hall, Peddrew-Yates
The BCC is an important component of 17³Ô¹ÏÍø’s efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive campus. It is utilized by the campus community for educational programs, exhibits, meetings, and receptions.
- Depart from Squires Student Center for a guided walking tour of campus led by current 17³Ô¹ÏÍø students.
- Residence Hall Tour -Â Ujima Living Learning Community is an essential concept in African philosophy and is also the third principle of Kwanzaa. It means collective work and responsibility. This new living-learning community places a special emphasis on understanding the unique experiences of African-Americans in society, including their experiences in college. Located in Peddrew-Yates Hall, Ujima is open to students of all backgrounds who are interested in understanding, supporting, and learning about the African American experience.
3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Majors Fair
Representatives from various 17³Ô¹ÏÍø departments will staff a table to share information about academic opportunities and resources available to students.
