Statistics

College of Science

Statistics as a discipline is the development and application of methods to collect, analyze, interpret, and learn from data. Since data are collected in almost every field, including the natural and social sciences, medicine, industry, finance, and engineering, statistics are crucial in understanding the world around us. Whenever possible, we encourage students to minor in Statistics. The minor requires 21 credits worth of courses that, collectively, provide students with skills to design, implement, and summarize data from experiments. Based on the summaries, students also learn to make inference responsibly.
